  1. Windows-based computer running the Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 operating system;

In order to use the Calculator, you must enable the use of macros when prompted by Microsoft Excel.

To enable the use of macros in the Calculator:

  1. Open the relevant Microsoft Excel file (with the .xlsm extension); a "Security Warning" box will be shown at the top left of the screen
  2. Click on the Options button in the "Security Warning" box

  4. Macros will now be enabled in the Calculator

Using the ITO/MQA Demerger Cost Base Calculator

On 2 February 2010, MARL shares were distributed in specie from IT(II) and MARIL shares were distributed in specie from IIL. MARL shares and MARIL shares are stapled together in a 1:1 ratio to form an MQA stapled security (now named ALX). Security holders received 1 MQA stapled security for every 5 Intoll (formerly MIG) stapled securities they held.

Following the in specie distribution of MQA by ITO, this calculator has been prepared to assist investors, who held MIG securities at the end of 22 January 2010 and who received MQA securities as part of the in specie distribution from MIT(II) and MIGIL, in determining the appropriate cost base adjustments and identifying any other capital gains tax consequences as a result of the distribution.

You will need to have information about your investment in MIG at hand when completing the calculator. Specifically for transactions post 23 July 2006, you will need your acquisition date, acquisition costs (brokerage), your DRP participation dates (if any) and any selling information (eg which MIG securities you may have sold).

IF YOU HELD SECURITIES AT THE TIME OF THE DEMERGER OF MQA AND THEY WERE ACQUIRED PRIOR TO 24 JULY 2006, PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE A COPY OF THE OUTPUT PRODUCED BY THE MIG/SRG DEMERGER CALCULATOR AT HAND. IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY COMPLETED THIS CALCULATOR YOU CAN DO SO HERE: MIG/SRG Demerger Cost Base Calculator. THIS OUTPUT WILL BE REQUIRED FOR MANUAL INPUT LATER IN THIS CALCULATOR.

Please note that you should consult your tax advisor and/or the Intoll Tax Statement Guide for further information.
